| This was the second time I
ate at this Italian theme restaurant at
the Flamingo Hilton. The first experience
was pleasant enough and a repeat was
warranted as I was staying here. The Steamed Clams
"Villa" Style was served in a
red sauce. The sauce had fresh tomatoes,
lots of toasted pine nuts, onions,
carrots, basil and a hint of cream. The
clams were not very fresh as fresh ones
should be plump. The sauce was a little
sweet to my liking but otherwise quite
tasty.
The house
salad had butter lettuce, ripe tomato
slices, cucumber, marinated artichoke
hearts and Italian dressing. It was
served very chilled and it was
refreshing.
My main
dish was the Penne Pasta Angelo. The
freshly made pasta was correctly cooked.
The tomatoes, roasted garlic, garlic,
capers, mushrooms, chives, marinated
artichoke hearts and basil were cooked in
truffle oil and perhaps a little butter.
No knowing exact what truffle oil should
taste like I suspected that it was olive
oil. Coarsely grated Parmesan cheese
topped the mixture. To some the dish
would be considered too oily but I
enjoyed it very much.
The house
Italian Pinot Grigio by the glass got
better as the meal got towards the end. I
could have done without it.
The wait
staff was friendly but not very
attentive. And that was what
$35(including gratuity) bought in a
typical strip casino/hotel these days in
Las Vegas.
