| As a visitor to Las Vegas I
am not familiar with the rich history of
this restaurant. The collection of
celebrity photographs, notes and
artifacts on the walls and ceiling showed
a glimpse of its legacy. Things changed
through the years and the good food must
have left the building. The Battista's
Cioppino (house specialty) had all the
right ingredients but the fish and snow
crab legs were old. The small lobster
tail, shrimp, fish, crab, clams and
mussels were way over-cooked. Only the
scallops were tender. Comments from
others in our party pointed to similar
experiences with the beef, veal and pasta
dishes.
The $33
entree included a salad or soup, side
pasta, house wine and Cappuccino.
The
table-side accordion player required
interaction. Some enjoyed his antics and
some found it annoying. I wondered if a
strolling player focusing more on the
music and less interaction (unless
solicited) wouldn't have contributed more
to the ambience.
The
spumoni ice cream was the best part of
the meal.
