| In years past, Las Vegas has
provided me some memorable Italian
meals. This was memorable as well,
but not because it was good. Papamio's looked
like a good restaurant with
"normal" prices, but my initial
experience was negative. With
twelve empty tables in easy view, being
told in a rather surly manner the wait
would be 20 - 30 minutes did not endear
me to the restaurant. I'm sorry,
folks, it's not my fault you don't have
enough servers, if I'm hungry, there's no
line up and twelve empty tables, you must
not want my money very badly.
OK...so let's try again the following
night.
Same
restaurant, same time, only a couple of
empty tables, same
"hostess"...no problem getting
seated.
Pretty
decent waiter who seemed just a bit
"slick", but reasonably
attentive and certainly polite.
The
Chianti Riserva was good, but a tad
overpriced at $7.50 per glass. The
Calamari was good, but nothing
special.
The Penne
Pasta with garlic, olive oil and
mushrooms wasn't bad...but it wasn't good
either. I don't understand why the
pasta is EVER served when it's chewy and
gummy. It takes very little
skill to prepare it "al dente"
and that's the way it should be
served.
