| My memory may be faulty,
but as I remember it, the original Bush Garden in
Portland was probably Portland's first Japanese
restaurant, twenty or thirty years ago. This
"branch" restaurant has only been open for a
couple of years, but it has the same high quality menu as
the original. The
Bush Garden sushi (not their rolls) is possibly the best
in Portland, but also the most expensive. Two
pieces of sushi varies typically from $1-$2 in most
restaurants. At the Bush Garden it will be
$2.50-$3.50, perhaps a bit much, but the quality is
excellent.
The menu has many
combination plates featuring various kinds of sushi and
teriyaki; or teriyaki and tempura; or bento combinations
with beef, chicken, sushi, salad & miso soup,
etc. All are excellent and priced from $11.95 to
$18.95.
This location in Tualatin,
seems to be having trouble keeping enough staff on hand
to properly service a strong dinner hour...service can be
positively glacial...but where else in suburban Portland
do you find virtually all diners to be Japanese men?
If you're not familiar
with Tualatin, the address will probably not help you
find the restaurant. It's located on the west edge
of "the lake" near the Cinema.
