| Clarke's is a relatively
new restaurant in Lake Oswego and, while not being
selected as a "Critic's Choice" by The
Oregonian, has received not much praise either.
They do suggest that Clarke's is Lake Oswego's best
dining (it is.) They also say that:
"Dark and heavy decor conflicts with the lighter
spirit." I'm not entirely sure what that is
supposed to mean. Maybe I just "don't get
it", but I didn't notice any "dark and heavy
decor". The
food is excellent! I suppose it would be again
classified as: "Northwestern Continental"
along the lines of Caprial's and Wildwood. The
fettuccini with wild mushrooms and asparagus was
wonderful, as was the tuna sandwich with carmelized
onions. Perhaps more remarkable, lunch for two with
a $6.00 glass of Oregon Pinot Noir was only $26.00.
I will return soon for
dinner.
