| When my dining companion
suggested a lunch of Chinese food, I was
hoping for something a bit out of the
ordinary. The Golden Crown
Restaurant makes mediocrity a household
word. The rice was stuck together,
the beef with peapods and water chestnuts
was covered with a gelatinous glop, and
the food just wasn't very good.
While most
Portland area Chinese restaurants don't
attain the high level of a Brandy Ho's in
San Francisco, they all tend to cluster
around a standard which is better than
the Golden Crown.

Atmosphere: B. Attitude: C...kind of a
tired acceptance of the fact they must
serve food today. Parking: A.
Service C. Value: B-.
