| I've eaten at two of the
five Stanford's locations in the Portland
area and while the food is generally
excellent, the service and attitude can
be unbelievably spotty. At the Lake Oswego
location recently, at 6:15 pm, our 10-15
minute wait was actually 25 minutes...in
a very crowded "lobby-entry
way".
Once
seated, 2 out of 3 of our orders were
completely fouled up by seemingly
indifferent waiters. (In their
defense, I need to point out that the
waiter who took the order wasn't the
waiter who delivered the food to the
table.) The Halibut was ordered
with rice...delivered with baked
potato. The London Broil was
ordered with garlic mashed potatos and no
vegetables...my dining companion was very
articulate in his description of his
allergies to onions. He was assured
that the mashed potatos contained no
onions...they did. When they
arrived with onions they were sent
back...only to be delivered with the
vegetables that were to be omitted in the
first place.
Of the
three drinks ordered before dinner, one,
a white chardonnay was to be held until
the dinner arrived. All drinks were
held.
My
Atlantic Salmon was excellent as were the
other entreés. The Caesar salad
had some sort of white gloppy stuff to
pass as dressing...but it wasn't terribly
heavy.
My only
complaint about the food is the lack of
bread. Each entreé was delivered
with a piece of some type of white bread
and an ugly glob of some sort of yellow
cheese...hardly enticing.
Food: A.
Attitude: C...completely indifferent
and very busy (too busy). Ambiance: A-.
Parking: C A problem, even with a
large lot in front. Service:
D...completely indifferent, no apologies
for screwing up meals. (But they did keep
the water glasses full.) Value: B.
Overall rating: B-C Automobile
dealerships have "system
houses". This was the
"system house" of restaurants.
