| Thirty-five or so years ago,
this location was a dingy "Teen age
night club" dubbed "The
Headless Horseman" and crowds of 250
to 300 teenagers on most any Friday and
Saturday night made the place VERY humid
and run down. The Brasserie
Montmartre, however, is EXTREMELY
pleasant now with the walls covered in
"crayon art" from various on
premises' contests through the years and
a lovely ambiance reminiscent of the Left
Bank in Paris. It features jazz
most evenings of the week...however, I
question the Spanish language songs in
the background in what is predominately a
French establishment. A few songs
of Edith Piaf would have certainly been
in order...it positively DEMANDS a
rendition of "Ma vie au
Rose". The food,
unfortunately, is nothing special.
The ubiquitous Caesar salad is somewhat
better than most...the white gloppy stuff
isn't too thick and they do make an
attempt at tossing a couple of anchovies
on top...croutons are good, as
well.
The onion
soup frankly, isn't very good. The
flavor just isn't right and it needed
some salt.
The
bread: Well...certainly not
french.
The
"Park Burger" was good as was
my dining companion's shrimp salad...
But with
just a bit more effort it could be
memorable instead of just ordinary food
at good prices.
