| The Oregonian says of
Cafe Mingo: "Small, warm and always bopping,
Mingo manages to be one of Portland's best restaurants,
even though the food is more good than
spectacular." I find little to criticize in
that statement. Cafe
Mingo is small and usually VERY busy. If you want
to avoid the rush, get there at 5 pm when they
open. By 6, the place is packed with a waiting line
flowing out the door.
The food is excellent and
priced very well. When a shrimp and pasta dish
arrived with the tails still on the shrimp, I asked
why. The response was logical: "Less
labor to completely peel the shrimp so we can include
more shrimp." Makes sense to me.
