| I rarely agree with the
Oregonian's food critics and Campbell's
is absolutely NOT an exception. Of
Campbell's, the Oregonian writes:
Campbell's, tucked below the rumble of a
freeway exchange, is a Portland
institution, and deservedly
so." Yeah...Right! But
to what kind of institution are they
referring? I have eaten at Campbells
two or three times and have been
increasingly unimpressed. During the most
recent visit, I experienced quite
possibly the "waiter with the worst
attitude" ever. He rarely ever
spoke...never asked how things
were...even after we had to remind him to
bring the extra hot barbecue sauce...sort
of slammed everything down on the table
and cleared the table while I was still
eating, nearly hitting me in the nose
with his elbow. I guess it must
have been time to go, although their
clearly posted hours say they close at 9
PM and it was 8:45. I was frankly
surprised he didn't take the water glass
from my hand while I was drinking
it...and I had just asked for a
refill.
The
food...not bad, but not as good as the
flavor at Buster's (which ALWAYS gets
slammed by the Oregonian. They must
have offended someone).
My wife
and had the
"sampler"...supposedly a sample
of everything...this night, it was a
sample of everything except pork
ribs...something we both wanted to
try.
The beef
ribs were OK, as were the two tiny slices
of beef brisket. The turkey was OK,
as was the chicken and pork and
links...just no big deal. WHERE WAS
THE FLAVOR?
For
$21.95, you would think they could have
included pork ribs.
Food:
C
Ambiance: funky, but unclean. I
don't really care for ants crawling on my
table.
Attitude: Absolutely an F
Parking: Decent size lot around the
building.
Service: Fast enough, but
ineffective and sullen...maybe a D.
Value: C, a bit more than you would
expect to pay and more than Buster's.
