A Top Pick in the Area - Review 2nd of 2

Way back in 1999, I said of their sister location on NE Weidler:

"I really can't get too excited about this sushi restaurant."

Well, that was then...and it was, after all, a different restaurant.

Their location (one of 5) on S. W. MacAdam just became my favorite sushi restaurant in Portland.  Why?  Quality, price and selection!

They have all the "normal" stuff, but their selection of various rolls was excellent and the quality is as good as any in town.

From the tempura selections, my dining companions had excellent results, but their sushi roll selection is second to none in Portland!   In addition to the Rainbow Roll (always one of my favorites), "spider roll" (ditto!) and the ubiquitous "California Roll", this restaurant lists about 15 rolls that I'd never experienced.  I tried a couple and they were excellent.  The prices were even a little bit less than what I would expect.

Miso soup was excellent as well...perhaps just a bit more delicate than what I've come to expect as "normal"...but it was hot!  We had to wait quite a while for it to cool down to a "drinkable" temperature.

I really can't get too excited about this sushi restaurant.  The sushi isn't quite as good as Mio Sushi on N. W. Johnson nor the Bush Garden in downtown Portland or Tualatin.  The rolls certainly aren't on a par with Mio Sushi.  The ambiance is fine as is the service, but the sushi, I'm afraid, is a bit pedestrian.

Perhaps the Miso soup is a cut above the others and the various selections of tempura and teriaki are more numerous and just as good.  But the sushi gets an OK, nothing better.

Food: A-, B for the sushi. Service: A. Ambiance: A-. Parking: Can be a problem. Attitude: A. Value: A-.
