If you're after value in an Italian meal in Portland, try La Buca's. The menu is small as are the prices, but the food is excellent.

Check the black board behind the counter for daily specials...If they are serving garlic and onion soup...it's wonderful!

Caesar salads, while not classically prepared and presented, are absent the white gloppy stuff so common to restaurants currently and are excellent.

And, if you have a few calories to spare, you might try the mashed potatoes with pesto.

La Buca's can have either pleasant light jazz in the background or ghastly noise that defies description...but if you can get through the noise, the food is excellent.
