| For some unknown reason,
The Oregonian is excited about Legin, I am not. In
the yearly Diner magazine, they list Legin as a
"Critic's Choice". Well...it's certainly not like any other
Chinese restaurant in Portland, I'll grant them that and
I did have one excellent dim sum dish...out of 10 or so
that I tried. But the place is huge, very noisy and
the ladies who bring the dim sum carts by your table
simply can not speak English well enough to provide much
of a clue as to what it is they're providing.
If you point and
ask: "What is this?", instead of an
answer the specific dim sum will probably be placed on
your table. "No...no..."What IS
this?"....then it's taken away leaving you to feel
like it's your fault you don't speak Chinese.
The selection (of
unidentified dim sum dishes) is certainly huge, but
because of a heart condition, I have to be careful what I
eat. This was not a pleasant experience, being
hungry, seeing delicious appearing food, but not being
able to find out what it contained. I've only been once
and will try Legin again, but the first time was a very
unfavorable experience.
Food: A to
D....spectacular to downright awful. Service: They try
hard. Parking: excellent. Attitude: questionable.
Value: Good...give it an A.
