Rose's Deli & Bakery, Portland, OR P368

A Top Pick in the Area

Long a fixture on NW 23rd Avenue, Rose's Deli returned last year after an absence of several years.  The menu is somewhat smaller...the desserts don't occupy quite as much counter space as before...the restaurant itself is somewhat smaller than before...but...nothing has changed much.

Sure, prices are up a bit...but you can still get an EXCELLENT Ruben sandwich...maybe not for $3.85 and large enough to feed two people...but it's still a Rose's Ruben.

And yes...the desserts are still HUGE, too big for most anyone of normal appetite.

A few of my favorites are gone...like the triple salad with Tuna and Chicken Liver...but the rest of the menu is essentially intact.

Purists will probably complain, but Rose's has changed over the years.  For me...I'm just happy to still have them in operation, serving essentially the same food I grew up with in Portland.
