| Almost a
"yawner"...another mediocre
Chinese restaurant in Portland?
Well...Almost, EXCEPT FOR A FEW
EXCEPTIONAL DISHES! Sure, they have the
obligatory...shrimp, pork, beef, chicken,
etc. with just about everything you can
think of: mushrooms, garlic, black
bean sauce, broccoli, snowpeas, etc...but
their "special" list has some
pretty neat stuff:
Spicy
salted rock cod...spicy salted
calimari...Exceptionally good dishes that
I've not found elsewhere in
Portland. Both were
excellent! A crispy coating of
"salted" batter; a bit of
pepper...served with excellent onions and
other vegetables. Certainly
different for Portland.
Zien Hong
is located on Sandy Boulevard in a now
predominantly Asian district around 50th
street and was recommended to me by a
Laotian friend as one of his favorite
restaurants...Good choice!
