| There were several things
that made the Outback Steakhouse a current hit around
here. The place was relaxed and the service was friendly.
The menu offered a variety inspite of a relatively small
number of items. The portions were generous and the fares
were reasonably tasty. The pager was a neat gadget. The hostess
handed me one to carry for the purpose of notifying me
that our table was ready.
The two shrimp
Aussie-Tizers (appetizers), Grilled Shrimp on The Barbie
and Gold Coast Coconut Shrimp, were quite good. The
Caesar salad was crispy and flavorful but it was saltier
than necessary. My Jackeroo Chops (two chops) were thick
and relatively juicy for being quite well done. The fresh
steamed vegetables of broccoli, cauliflower, pea pods,
carrots and squash were just right in that they were
tender but not overly cooked.
Others in our party had
Outback Rack (of lamb), Victoria's Filet and prime rib.
The Cabernet sauce with the lamb was a nice compliment
but became a little over-powering toward the latter part
of the meal.
The dinner for five, with
two appetizers, three iced-teas, with gratuity came to
$125. It was not exactly a bargain and it was not
outstanding but you won't go away hungry.
