| It was after 9:00PM on a
Sunday night. We still could not find a
place to park near any of the restaurants
in the International District. Yet, the
restaurants were not busy. The merchants
must make it their first priority to do
something about the parking situation in
order to do more business! Four Seas has their
own parking lot so we ended up there.
Most Chinese restaurants do not clean
their carpet nearly often enough and this
was one of them. The odor nearly made us
turn around and walked out. However, we
were glad we didn't.
We were in
for a late snack so it was not the full
dinner fare that we wanted. My wife
wanted her favorite, the Fish Maw seafood
soup($8.95). I believe that fish maw is
the air bladder from some large fish that
has been puffed by deep frying much like
the pork rind. It was slightly saltier to
our likeing but the flavor was very good
with lots of various seafood.
The Four
Seas Chefs Chow Mein($8.50) was sauteed
prawns, squid, barbecued pork and Chinese
vegetables on a bed of golden, crispy
fried, thin Cantonese style noodles. It
was as I remembered the Chow Mein I had
as a child in Hong Kong. The Chinese
broccoli cooked in garlic sauce($7.75)
smelled heavenly and it took care of any
objectionable odor from the carpet.
Well, we
took home as much food as we ate there.
The food was considerably better than the
last time we visitied Four Seas. The
staff was very helpful inspite of the
fact that we interrupted their dinner. If
they can take care of the odor problem it
would be among a first choice in the
International District especially when
parking is considered.
