| I must say that
the overall food quality of Chinese restaurants
has been getting steadily better. And it still
represents one of the best value for your
dollars. Honey Court was in my mind as I wrote
these statements. Honey Court, unfortunately, like
many of the Chinese restaurants that catered to
mostly Chinese in Chinatown, was not particularly
clean. Carpet and rest rooms were quite
unacceptable. The decor were also not high on
their priorities. Having said all that, there
were a lot of good things with their food.
We were hungry as
we did not have a decent meal all day so we
ordered the $78 dinner special. This is the
wonderful part of many Chinese restaurants. They
usually have special dinner menus for the larger
group of four to six and more persons. We have
never had a bad experience ordering from these
menus. There were only four of us and the waiter
openly giggled as he pulled another table up to
ours so that we have room for all the food!
He was correct! We
had far more that we could sample. Our dishes
were:
According to the
menu, the last two dishes were considered
"complimentary". Now, that was a lot of
food (certainly enough for ten persons).
All the dishes
were nicely done and the ingredients were fresh.
None of the dishes were very salty. The Talapia
was not scaled as well as I liked and the skin of
this fish had a little bitterness to it. The
Peking Duck was not very crispy but the steamed
flour pancakes were perfection.
The service was
very good with the exception of the last six or
severn dishes all came out together.
Total of all this
food including tax and gratuity was $100. It was
a bargain!
