El Pastor, Yakima, Washington P23

I went to El Pastor because my office was near it several years ago. The making steady improvements but the restaurant is still not very inviting. The parking structure behind the restaurant is littered with bird poop. The building and furnishings can use a lot of work!

All that being said, I frequent El Pastor for their Salsa. It is freshly made, always vibrant, tangy and often quite hot. I like it very much! They always serve up a nice dish of it with chips before you order anything.

The restaurant is a family business. Mom and dad are in the kitchen and the kids wait on the tables. The fare is Americanized Mexican. The quality is consistant and the food is tasty. The rice is light, fluffy and aromatic. I usually skip the beans to get more rice!

There are over twenty luncheon combinations ($4.95). And if you want to splurge, take the Carne Asada (about $5.50). Oh, their iced-tea is always large and crystal clear. You'll need it to stay awake after the big lunch! Dinner prices are a little higher with larger portions.
