| FuKuRoKu Sushi Japanese Restaurant, Richmond, B.C. | P2 |
| We have returned to this
restaurant twice since March. Last night we went early so
that we could get seats next to the sushi bar. The
counter has about 15 chairs and there were several booths
at the opposite side of the sushi bar. There were four
chefs working in the sushi bar. The several varieties of sushi I sampled were all excellent. The geoduck in my sushi was very sweet, succulent and firm. They have a bake/broiled oyster on the half-shell covered with a mayonaise mushroom sauce that you must not miss if you are into oysters. FuKuRoKu is indeed a very dependable place for good Japanese food. The five of us skipped lunch and we had a lot of sushi before the entree. With the beers our bill was $134 Cdn. |

| Judging from the number
of people in the too small waiting area this must be a
very popular restaurant. And indeed it was worth the
wait. The sushi chefs were in the middle of the
restaurant putting their creations on little boats
floating on a canal next to the sushi bar. You can sit at
the sushi bar or you can walk up and pick your favorites.
Many people crowded around the sushi bar waiting for
their orders. The ingredients were, of course, first rate and very fresh. My Oyster Fry was quite ordinary. Our daughter said that her Unagi Don (eel served on rice) was one of the very best. My wife and son had the Bento Box A (Sashimi, Chicken Teriyaki, Fried Gyoza, Kushi-Katsu, Cod Ten Don, Miso Soup, Salad & Fruit). That was a lot of food but being all excellent it was all gone! Grandma had an order of broiled tuna which took too long. Most of us were done eating when her food came. However, she was very happy with her choice also. If Japanese food is your thing, FuKuRoKu is certainly worth checking out. The dinner for five was $92 Cdn. including GST and gratuity. |
