| Our first visit to
Richmond was in March. Arriving fairly late in the
evening at the hotel (Radisson President Hotel &
Suites) we decided to take a look at the restaurant next
to the hotel on the mezzanine floor before running around
trying to find a late dinner. We were very glad that we looked and stayed.
The President Restaurant (may also be known as President
Chinese Seafood Restaurant) was absolutely wonderful. It
was clean, the staff was efficient, attentive and the
food was fresh, prepared and cooked to perfection and
very delicious. We ordered the Deluxe Dinner for Six
($208 Cdn). The courses were:
- Peking Duck
- Braised Shark Fin
with Crab Meat in Hot Pot
- Pan Fried Lobster in
Special Soup Sauce
- Minced Duck Meat
Lettuce Wrap
- Braised Sliced
Abalone & Chinese Mushrooms with Vegetables
- Steamed Whole Fish
- Fried Rice with
Shrimps & BBQ Pork
- Dessert
These dishes were more
typically served in a grand banquet. Thus, the dinner was
relatively expensive but with the currency difference it
still seemed a bargain. They have these set dinners for
four, six and ten people ranging from $150 to $398.
If you are in the mood for
some top notch Chinese seafood you can't go wrong with
these sets (regular menu is also available). Just bring
lots of family and friends and a healthy appetite!
The set menus are usually
written in Chinese and posted on a board. At the
President they are printed with Chinese and English and
you can ask for them (they are pink 8 1/2 x 11").
Made me hungry just looking at these menus again!
