| About 90 miles west of Paris
on the Avre river dwells Verneuil.
What seems to be a small farming
community, is, in fact, a bit of a
retreat in lower Normandy for Parisians
desiring a "country
home". Verneuil's "centre
ville" displays nothing except for
"bar-brasserie" type eating
establishments with the lone exception
being Le Grand Sultan. What a wonderful
place! It was a bit cold and rainy
the night we were there, but the
fireplace with 4' oak logs was warm and
VERY welcoming.
The
food: Just GREAT!
I had
Salmon, my wife coq au boujoulais...both
were excellent.
Not a word
of English was apparently spoken by
Monsieur and Madame Cluzeau, but they
were exceptionally friendly and
charming.
Definitely
worth a trip out of Paris and quite easy
to find...just under the church tower in
the centre ville of Verneuil.
