| After three weeks in France,
we succumbed to eating at a restaurant
that advertised: "English
Spoken". While it wasn't a big
mistake, it generally wasn't a great
idea, although the English speaking
Danish waitress was very pleasant. Since Blois is a
couple of hours south of Paris at the
beginning of the Loire Valley and the
"Chateau Country", you would
expect a bit of a different menu.
Nothing
was excellent, but everything was
OK.
The Chevre
"Bruschetta" was a little
silly, with nice hunks of melted Chevre
on a generic tomato paste...all on a
piece of bread which defies description.
I had a
"Tartiflette au Saumon"...kind
of a Salmon casserole...except they were
out of Salmon and substituted
shrimp. A bit too much
"lardon" and a bit too
salty.
On the
positive side, my companion's dessert of
poached pears in a red wine sauce was
excellent.
